I once was told my communication through work emails was entertaining. I don’t know if that was good or bad for others once I knew someone enjoyed them.

So for those of you who like short and concise information…

Obtain It College Advising.
Its nickname is just “Obtain It”.
This is what I want: I want students to Obtain their It.
What their “It” is is unique to them, and this is where I come in. Each student has their own journey through the application process.
I am here to help get students to their “It”.

For those of you who like a little more of the backstory….

The last nineteen years of my life I have had the joy of serving students in both higher education and secondary schools. Following my own graduation from Texas A&M University in 2005, I was hired into my first professional job at Texas A&M in the Scholarships & Financial Aid Office. 

The next ten years there gave me so much as I worked with students, helping them make their dreams come true. My time in Scholarships & Financial Aid was spent as a Scholarships & Financial Aid Advisor, Program Coordinator, and the final position I was entrusted with was the Associate Director of Team Scholar. In 2016, my family and I decided to relocate to my hometown, allowing me to be closer to my family. 

Upon my return to New Braunfels, Texas I had the opportunity to return to my Alma Mater, Canyon High School. It just makes me laugh how cyclical life can be as I was lucky enough to serve as the Student Council Advisor outside of my teaching duties, which is exactly the organization that developed me into who I am when I was in high school. When Davenport High School opened, I was trusted to be the first Academic & Career Advisor, guiding the first Seniors of this brand new school to their post-secondary goals. In 2023, the tug to go back “home” one more time came as I returned to CHS for my last two years in formal public education. 

Now, I find myself jumping for joy (cautiously, I have been out of high school for 20+ years now, must protect the knees) and thrilled to start working with students and their families one-on-one to coach and guide them to get them to their dreams. During our time together we will take a deep dive into the student’s goals and dreams while also encouraging consideration of all options.  

Now…let’s go OBTAIN IT!
